At our June Dinner Meeting, Rose Pothier, Esq. shared valuable information with us on how to handle real life situations and how to protect against cyber theft. Companies have gone out of business due to inadequate protection of their trust accounts! Thank you to RBJ and Doc Pros for hosting. It was exciting to have three Professional Designations to award. Congratulations to Ashley Bowman, CEO, DeeAnna Pope, CEO and Beverly Toma, CEO. Thanks to all who provided the positive feed- back on the return of "S"crow Bingo. Again it was a huge success and oodles of fun. :-) At our September meeting we were able to cover many of the Topics on the original agenda from our Day of Education agenda and we will present more of the topics at our November meeting so please make your reservations early. We also awarded Kim Eachus, CEO, Debra Boozer, CEO, Julie Parker, CEO and Jackie Moore, CEO with their Certified Escrow Officer designations. Hopefully all of our recent designees have inspired a few more of you to take the plunge. Congratulations to you all. For all of you PD hopefuls I hope you have submitted your applications and have saved the dates for PD Workshops and Test (Workshop: November 2nd and 9th and Test on November 16th). The workshop really does help! I am sure there are many of you out there who have decided to make this the year to get your Professional Designation, I applaud you. One of our challenges is to have an ever growing - forward thinking board of directors for the Orange County Escrow Association. So I would like to take a moment and give a very sincere "Thank You" to Ashley Knowles and Shayna O’Green. Both have provided us with a "Willingness to Serve" and were elected as Directors for the 2014 OCEA Board. Yes, it is voluntary and Yes, it requires a commitment to work, but we all should "give back" to the industry that has provided so much to each of us and our families. It just makes sense! It is thrilling to see new directors each year as they bring a new outlook and fresh ideas to our Association. As well, I would like to thank those who are returning to the Board in 2014. Thank you all and Thank you for all the amazing support and hard work you all contributed to OCEA this year!!!! We covered half of the material we would have covered at our Day of Education had we not been forced to cancel. At the Mini Workshop we covered the latest on Same-Sex vestings with Debbie Tognetti, Title Officer with Fidelity National Title. Debbie then joined Debbie Bannister with Innovative Financial Services and Jennifer Felton, Esq., with Hershorin & Henry LLP for the Dinner meeting program. We had a lively discussion covering a myriad of topics. See November 20 meeting notice. At the November meeting we will cover more of the Day of Education topics. Be sure to make your reservations EARLY. NOVEMBER meeting will be ASSOCIATE APPRECIATION NIGHT. Help us thank those that support our industry.
